Why you should never worry about a thigh gap

Do you wake up every morning and look in the mirror? Do you stare and point out your “flaws”, wishing you looked like someone else? Okay, this has got to stop. Every time you do this you’re chipping away at your self-confidence, and if you keep doing this you could end up with none! Here’s how I dumped the thigh gap dream.

1. I exercised to feel good.
As soon as I changed why I worked out, the size of my legs didn’t matter. I fell in love with feeling strong and watching what my body was capable of. everyBODY with Iskra will teach you how to work out for your mind, not your butt!

2. I broke the rules.
When I started my career, I was rejected from plus size modelling for being too small – and I was rejected from straight size modelling for being too curvy. This was the best thing to ever happen. It forced me to create my own path where I could be me; because that’s the best person I can ever be. So, you know what size I am now? I’m Iskra size and I love it!

3. I used social media as inspiration.
Yes, social media is filled with Photoshop galore. But there are heaps of girls, brands, models and individuals showing us realness. Follow accounts that inspire you; those that encourage individuality and say no to unrealistic beauty standards. Reach out to them, connect with them and show the world that every size, shape and colour is beautiful. My exclusive everyBODY Facebook community does just that – we inspire, support and encourage each other.

4. I ditched the diet.
If you eat to lose weight, you’ll never be truly happy with your body. You could cut out a food group all together and still not get a thigh gap. So, I changed my relationship with food. I stopped feeling guilty for eating waffles and burgers. I ate for energy and to nourish my body. And I focused on what I would eat, not what I wouldn’t. This simple change of behaviour makes me excited to try new foods and cook new recipes.

5. I created the mirror challenge
I realised that by focusing on trying to look like someone I’m not, I was never going to be healthy. So, I made myself look in the mirror and find things I loved. It’s scary at first and you may feel a little vulnerable. But it works! Look in the mirror and find 10 things you love about yourself: three about your personality and seven about your body.

Beauty, health and confidence is not determined by a thigh gap. Join everyBODY with Iskra and I’ll show you how to get strong, fit and happy, and truly embrace your amazing body.
