Why bathroom scales are a waste of f**king time
I don’t know when or why society became so obsessed with trying to weigh a certain number. After all, it’s just a number. So, who cares? Unfortunately we’ve become transfixed on kilos and it’s lead to thousands of us with depression, insecurities, eating disorders and sense of not feeling good enough.
In my teens I was obsessed too. It was like I was brainwashed by the media and society’s perception of beauty. And after being pushed to lose weight, be a certain size and look a certain way, I had enough. I decided to look like ME! And that meant throwing away the bathroom scales – because I wasn’t going to let a stupid number tell me if I was happy and healthy.
Here’s how to breakup with your scales:
1. Throw them away
Yep. It’s as simple as that. Pick them up and throw them in the outside garbage bin. It’s a game-changer. Keeping scales in the house is dangerous: they lure you in to weigh yourself and can leave you feeling sad and depressed – all because of that number! My new health and fitness program, everyBODY with Iskra, is a scales free zone! We base our strength on things that matter, things that make us feel good.
2. Focus on feeling fit
As soon as you change your focus and goals you won’t need your scales. Let your fitness be your motivation. By focusing on how you feel – not how you look – you’ll get strong and confident.
3. Find an activity you love
Bootcamps and running isn’t everyone’s idea of a good time. And if you don’t like what you’re doing, it becomes a chore and you’ll end up hating it. everyBODY with Iskra is packed with all sorts of activities and workouts from yoga to HIIT to boxing. And once you find one you love, you’ll do it for fun and because you want to, not because it could reduce the number you see on the scales.
4. Treat yo' self
Show yourself a little lovin’ by spoiling yourself. It doesn’t have to be something big or crazy either. A mani, a new book, a massage or a visit to your fave coffee shop is enough. After all, a happy mind equals a happy body. And once you feel happy from the inside out, the bathroom scales won’t measure anything!
5. Remove a deadline
Be kind to yourself and take the pressure off – there is no end date to feeling healthy and happy. Setting yourself a deadline until you see a number on the scales is pure nonsense. That number means nothing! It doesn’t measure your health, confidence or sassiness, so throw the scales away now!
It’s time to change your relationship with your body. Let everyBODY with Iskra show you how.
